Gophers are goofy looking and this artdoll captures their style perfectly. Sadly, not many people appreciate the wacky appearance of this gopher. Too bad! He's full of personality. He has a unique jacket to mimic the puffy body of the real rodent and extra-large hands, too. Pocket gophers are medium-sized rodents that live a largely underground lifestyle. Their name derives from the fur-lined pockets inside their cheeks, used to carry items. Similar to chipmunks, they are able to pack their cheeks quite full with vegetation and carry it long distances. Pocket gophers dig extensive tunnel systems, used for transportation, foraging and storage. They are mostly vegetarian, eating roots and tubers. Gophers breed year round and babies are born with fully formed cheek pockets.
