This personality-rich sculpture was inspired by an equally engaging mammal – the Black-tailed Prairie Dog. Once common throughout the West, most populations were eradicated for a variety of mis-directed reasons. The truth is they are a vital part of grassland ecosystems. They help till the soil, disperse seeds, provide homes to birds and other mammals and are a food for many predators. The focus of this sculpture is the interlinked relationship of the Prairie Dog and the Prairie itself – here symbolized by the embroidered vegetation and puffy “dirt”overcoat. • A cheerful and uplifting artwork • Earth tones and subtle colors fit into any décor • Fully jointed body and movable hands can be posed
